New press release from the Saarland State Chancellery: Successful review of Horizon 2020 and confident start to Horizon Europe with virtual kick-off event

Deadline: Mar 17, 2021

In its press release of 04.12.2020, the Saarland State Chancellery emphasises the success of Saarland institutions in obtaining EU funding under the Horizon 2020 research framework programme. The target of 100 million euros in EU funding over a period of seven years has been significantly exceeded: A total of 120.2 million euros were acquired by Saarland research institutions.

This positive balance makes the Saarland quite confident with regard to the EU research framework programme "Horizon Europe", which starts in the new year: "The successful participation of Saarland institutions and companies in international research projects as well as the individual funding of outstanding local scientists and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises within the framework of "Horizon 2020" shows that the Saarland is well positioned in terms of top European research and innovation competence, and even occupies a top position nationwide. It is important to maintain and sustainably expand this successful course with the successor programme "Horizon Europe", which will be launched shortly," said Tobias Hans, Minister President of the Saarland.

The launch of Horizon Europe in 2021 will be celebrated on 11 December 2020 at the virtual kick-off event "Horizon Europe: Research and Innovation for a Better Europe - Opportunities and Expectations from Saarland's Perspective", organised by the Saarland State Chancellery and Saarland University. Here you can register for the kick-off event as well as for the "Horizon Europe Week", which offers an exciting programme on various topics related to the research framework programme.
